FEBRUARY 2023 — Presenting at the Digital Praxis Poster sessions on February 16, 2023 was an exciting experience. I spoke with countless instructors of English writing and composition across the country and shared digital lesson plans. One of my rookie mistakes of the conference was assuming that the computer monitors provided by CCCC would be adjustable, moving from horizontal to vertical. This was not the case. Realizing that I had not packed a drill, my vertical poster remained on the horizontal monitor. This funny mishap worked to my benefit, though, as conference-goers and I joked around about the irony of hard-to-handle hardware during a presentation on software.

From left to right: 1) Graduate students of Clemson University's RCID program Andrew Nii Okai Okai and Dr. Hannah Taylor came to support me. 2) Cloud Gate, also known as the Chicago bean by non-Chicagoans, is a public piece of art about a 15-minute walk from the conference. I saw it during an early morning run and was the only one there, as you can see in the reflection of Cloud Gate. 3) A photograph of the signage for attendees of the B session for the poster presentations. 4) Walking from Cloud Gate onto Michigan Ave, it started to snow. The girl in front of me had a nice periwinkle puffy jacket that reminded me of my middle school days. 5) A view of the detailed structures and architecture on Michigan Ave.

Above: This is the poster that I used to present at CCCC's 2023 conference"Doing Hope In Desperate Times."
