OCTOBER 2021 — This is one of my favorite short stories. "Sea Oak" is a humorous horror story about the annals of capital and time, self worth and work, the living dead and those sick-of-living.
"Sea Oak" also tackles the cruelty inherent to the marginalized in a consumerist society. In all ways, I think "Sea Oak" is an awesome brief read for October. My students definitely enjoyed studying it in our ENGL-1030 course. For those who don't have time to read the story itself, enjoy the audio.
